Fix Something Isn’t Right Error on Twitter

The internet connectivity is the main reason behind the “Twitter something went wrong” issue. But there can be some other reasons too. So, you can check out the solutions below one by one, and you’ll surely be able to fix the problem.

1. Check Your Internet Connection

If you face Twitter something went wrong issue, then the most probable reason behind it is your internet connection. If it’s slow, there’s a high chance that you will face this problem while browsing Twitter.

So, it’ll be better for you to check whether the internet is working properly on your device. And if you can easily browse other websites, check if Twitter is allowed to use mobile data.

On Android:

  • First, go to the Settings of your device.
  • Then, find Apps there.
  • From the list of all the installed apps, select Twitter.
  • Then, click on Data, Data Setting, or any similar setting.
  • Finally, ensure that it’s allowed Wi-Fi or Mobile Data permission.

On iOS:

  • First, open Settings.
  • Then, scroll down till you find Twitter from the list of apps.
  • On the next page, scroll to the bottom and toggle on the Mobile Data option.

2. Hard Refresh The Web Page

A hard refresh can help you eliminate the “Twitter something went wrong” error if you’re using Twitter from a web browser.

You should know that a hard refresh is different from a normal refresh. In the conventional one, users press the reload button on the top-left or right side, which opens the page using the cached data. But in the hard refresh, the browser opens the page by fetching data from the website’s server without using caches.

These are the shortcut keys combination to hard refresh the page:

On Windows (chrome/firefox/Microsoft edge): Ctrl+F5/Shift+F5/Ctrl+Shift+F5

On Mac (Chrome/Firefox): Command+Shift+R

If you’re using the Safari browser, there are no shortcut keys to hard refresh the page. But you can press Command+option+E to clear the cache, hold the shift key, and click the reload button.

3. Update Your App/Browser

If you’re using an old version of the Twitter app or browsing Twitter on a browser of the old version, you might face various errors, including the “something went wrong” problem. So, updating the app or the browser to the latest version won’t be a bad option.

Depending on your device, you can open the Play Store or App Store and search for Twitter. And click the Update button to start installing the new version.

Updating your browser might vary slightly depending on the device you use. But in chrome, you must click the three dots in the top-right corner>settings>About Chrome. If any update is available, download and install that.

If you use the Safari browser, you can check the App Store for new updates.

4. Update Internet Date & Time

If the date and time are incorrect on your device, you may face issues in browsing the internet, and you can also face the “Twitter something went wrong” error. So, you should check that and set it to the internet-provided time.

The steps vary depending on your device, but I have shared the process for all the devices below that you can check and apply.

  • Then, check the “Set date and time automatically” box, and in the server, enter pool.ntp.org.

On Android:

  • Open Settings.
  • Then tap on System.
  • Now, click on Date & Time.
  • Toggle on the Network provided time and date option.

On iOS:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Then click General.
  • Select the Date & Time option.
  • Finally, turn on the Set Automatically toggle.

If any of the above fixes don’t work, you can try clearing your browser or app’s cache or cookies.

For Chrome/Microsoft Edge/Firefox:

  • First, click the padlock icon on Twitter’s web page in the top left.
  • Then, select Cookies.

  • Then, select Preferences.
  • Now, select the Advanced tab from the top.

  • After that, click Develop.
  • Then select the Clear Cache option.
  • Now again, click on Safari on the menu bar.
  • Then, click Clear History.
  • Again click on Clear History on the pop-up window.

If you use Twitter mobile, then you can follow these steps to clear your cache:

On Android:

  • Open Settings.
  • Select Apps & Notifications.
  • Then, click on Twitter.
  • After that, select Storage.
  • Finally, click on Clear Cache.

On iOS:

There’s no option to clear the app’s cache on iOS devices. However, you can uninstall the app and install it again.

  • First, press and hold the Twitter app to Uninstall it.
  • Then, navigate to the App Store and search for Twitter.
  • Finally, download the Twitter app.
