How to Know If Someone Forwarded Your Whatsapp Message

Unfortunately, WhatsApp does not have a feature that allows users to see whether your messages have been forwarded or not. There is, however, another way to do it. Just read the whole article.

Users can easily share messages, photos, and videos through WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps worldwide. However, have you ever wondered if someone is forwarding your messages without your knowledge? In this article, we will tell you various methods to help you determine if someone has forwarded your message on WhatsApp. Understanding these techniques allows you to gain a better understanding of how information is processed on the platform, as well as better control your privacy.

Why Does Whatsapp Label Forwarded Messages?

How to Know If Someone Forwarded Your Message on Whatsapp

It’s impossible to trust a message that’s been forwarded multiple times if it’s marked as forwarded multiple times.

People often spread messages across several (and usually crowded) group chats with WhatsApp’s forwarding function, increasing their chances of virality. WhatsApp limited the number of chats you could forward at once as more and more users disseminated misinformation.

In addition, the app began tagging messages forwarded by more than five recipients. This way, users would be able to see a Forwarded many times label above the original message if there were more than five degrees of separation.

It is a great way to flag content that contains misinformation and discourage users from spreading it widely. Fortunately, there’s a way to bypass the restriction when you want to forward a funny GIF to your friend’s group chat.

Is It Possible To See If Your Whatsapp Message Was Forwarded?

When a message is forwarded, it has a Forwarded label, which indicates whether your friend or family member sent it or if it originated from another source.

Can You Know If A WhatsApp Message Was Forwarded to You?

It is true that forwarded messages on WhatsApp have a Forwarded label; however, the sender can also avoid it by copying-pasting it. If a message has been forwarded many times, this method can be used to get it back out there again. Can You Know If A WhatsApp Message Was Forwarded to You?

Messages sent via forwarded links cannot be circulated more than five times after the sender, it can be copied and pasted, then rendered as a ‘new message.’ After that, you can only send the forwarded message to one chat at a time if you want it to reach up to five more chats.

Considering the previous statement, you can see how a message may be forwarded without the “Forwarded” label enabled.

Does anyone know if you forwarded their message?

You cannot notify them that you have forwarded a message on your WhatsApp through a notification or label. Senders cannot know for sure whether they have forwarded their WhatsApp message, although the receiver may know if the voice note has been forwarded.

Someone cannot know if their message has been forwarded when you don’t let them know. If the original sender’s message is forwarded, they will not receive a notification or label.

Exceptions to this rule include you telling them that you forwarded their message or showing them a WhatsApp message with a “Forwarded” label on it from someone they know. Though it is unlikely, it is not entirely impossible. Although there is no notification on WhatsApp that you have forwarded their message, you can rest assured.

How to See Who Has Forwarded Your Message

Unlike WhatsApp, you will not be notified if your message has been forwarded; however, you can find out if your message has been forwarded in one way.

The only way you can know if someone has forwarded your WhatsApp message to you is if they have accidentally sent it back. Because there is no notification, there is no way to tell who has forwarded your message. But, still, I have found the following steps really helpful in order to know a bit about forwarded messages. So, let’s them out:

  1. On your smartphone, open WhatsApp, go to the desired chat and find the message that causes you concern.
  2. From the context menu, tap and hold the message, then choose Info.
  3. In the case of a message not being forwarded, only the time of sending and reading will be displayed.
  4. There will be a counter with the exact number of times the message has been forwarded if the message has been forwarded. How to See Who Has Forwarded Your Message

There is no difference between text, voice, video, or photo messages when it comes to this counter. Furthermore, you can track not only your own forwards but also those of other people.

How To Forward Messages Without A Label

You would tap the arrow at the top of the screen to select the text on the chat that you wish to forward and then long-tap it to select the text.

It would be a mistake to trust your instincts when your message would be stigmatized as forwarded.

You can instead tap the three dots in the top right corner of your screen and select the Copy option by long-tapping the message you want to resend. It will notify you that the message is now in your clipboard, so you can use it however you see fit.

You can resend it by long-pressing on the message field in the recipient’s chat until you see the option to paste the message. You can paste it and send it.

It’s the same process to resend a file, video, or photo. Thereafter, tap the three dots in the upper right corner of the screen to open the options by long-pressing on the document. You’ll see that copy is not an option; instead, click Share. Next, you’ll be taken to the sharing screen, where you can choose another messaging app if you prefer. In case your preferred chat isn’t there, choose WhatsApp at the bottom of the menu and select your desired contact.
